Overview
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course discusses the different types of gogies such as pedagogy, andragogy, heutagogy and geragogy. People are unique, and one approach does not always work for everyone. Education should be viewed as an ever-changing process affected by the ever-changing sociocultural implications. Pedagogy, andragogy, heutagogy and geragogy denote different teaching and learning practices based not only on the ever-changing circumstances but also on the maturity of learners. Each practice is attributed to learners’ diverse age ranges, with specific educational implications. The course will also elaborate on the different learning styles. According to Cardino and Cruz (2020), learning styles are how learners learn effectively in either visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learning modes. When the instructor determines his learner’s learning style, he can choose the correct teaching approach, strategies and methods. Planning and delivering effective lessons occurs when there is a constructive alignment between the approach, strategy, method and the learner’s learning style.
